Kad sam došel iz tabora, nađem ženu i šogora.
Šogor spava na blazini, a ja jadan na ledini.
Šogoru se gulaš kuha, a ja jadan želen kruha
Šogoru se vino toči, a ja jadan vodu loči.
Šogoru se pile peče, a ja jadan niš' ne reče.

When I came back from war I found my wife and brother-in-law at home.
My bother-in-law sleeps on sheets and I sleep on rough ground.
A stew is cooked for my brother-in-law while I starve for bread.
Wine is poured for my brother-in-law while I gulp on water.
A chicken is cooked for my brother-in-law, and I, poor pitiful me, I say nothing.
